Delta State University is seeking a Divisional Chair for Commercial Aviation. The chair will provide strategic leadership and direction for the future, including coordinating with the Dean of the College of Business and Aviation in the planning, development, and safe, efficient delivery of the Commercial Aviation program.

The successful candidate will promote faculty engagement in undergraduate and graduate program planning, including curriculum refinement, assessment, and accreditation. The chair must lead efforts to maintain Aviation Accreditation Board International (AABI) accreditation and ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standards. The chair will foster an environment that supports scholarly activities, faculty professional development, externally funded research, and grant initiatives, while overseeing selected budgetary activities. The chair will also drive initiatives to enhance student enrollment and retention, prioritizing flightline safety and academic excellence. Additionally, the chair will coordinate outreach efforts, including fundraising and building relationships with key external stakeholders, supervise staff, maintain critical assets, and perform other duties as assigned by the dean.

Reporting to the chair are faculty, adjunct professors, the Director of Flight Operations, and other program-related staff. The chair will collaborate with the dean and other senior leaders on strategic planning and regularly communicate needs, opportunities, and risks regarding the Commercial Aviation Division and airport activities. The chair will teach aviation courses consistent with university's needs.
